Всего четыре года ожиданий ушло у поклонников самого компактного компьютера Apple на то, чтобы компания представила обновленный Mac mini.

Apple неоднократно подчеркивала, что неттоп очень важен для всей экосистемы, поэтому не планирует прекращать его дальнейшее развитие.

Но с релизом все время что-то не ладилось. И вот, спустя четыре года и 14 дней Apple анонсировала восьмое поколение Mac mini.

Что ж, разбираемся, чем интересна новинка и что изменилось в новых Mac mini.

Каков новый Mac mini

Что ж, дизайн остался практически прежним. Никакого футуризма и немного сумасшедших фантазий дизайнеров энтузиастов. Apple решила не изменять классике, поэтому единственное, чем внешне отличается новый Mac mini от выпущенного четыре года назад компьютера, это цвет.

Mac mini будет доступен в цвете Space Gray - под стать iMac Pro и обновленным MacBook Pro.

Зато новинка получила поддержку от 4-ядерного и вплоть до 6-ядерного процессора Intel Core 8-го поколения. По заверению Apple, Mac mini стал в 5 раз быстрее .

Новый процессор пришел на смену морально устаревшего Intel Core i5 4-го поколения с двумя ядрами.

Теперь Mac mini поддерживает вплоть до 64 ГБ оперативной памяти , против 16 у предшественника. Разумеется, скорость памяти также выросла, составив 2666 МГц на планку.

Скорость SSD возросла в четыре раза . Теперь топовый Mac mini комплектуется 2-терабайтным SSD-накопителем.

Впрочем, Apple решила полностью отойти от HDD. Даже в базовой комплектации Mac mini установлен 128-гигабайтный SSD. В новых продуктах Apple нет места винчестерам.

I order new Mac Mini this month 2017 and I realized it is 3 years old found from MacTracker app information of Mac Mini (Late 2014).

Now I don"t know why Apple didn"t explain to me at Apple store that I plan to buy Mac mini to replace my dead MacBook Pro 2011 laptop.

Now I"m worried the New Mac Mini has not show generations online that I ordered waiting for shipping to my home address on this month Nov. 30, 2017.

So it hurt me and worried of Mac Mini performance for the next 10 years of normal break down or earlier years.

I expected to watch new Apple model every year to decide when I would buy NOT 3 years old computer machine

as MacTracker shows?

If I see Model Identifier Macmini7,1 be same as 2017 relate to (Late 2014)?

What happen to 2012 Mac Mini performance was better then that 2017 Mac Mini that this might be slower to run

new OS upgrade performance?

If I understand for very good reason. if I disagreed I might want to return it. Apple says replace new computer I think 3 to 5 years because new OS upgrade performance won"t runs well on older hardware. I paid $2,000.00 for that Mac Mini that I expected to last 10+ years.

For a singer/songwriter recording/mixing/editing setup, I am weighing the performance and expandability of a new 2017 Mac Pro against the cheaper and possibly entirely adequate new 2017 Mac Mini.

If I go for the Mac Mini I can upgrade the Mac Mini so it"s 3GHz and 16 GB: total cost will be $1,400. The Mac Pro 3.7 GHz Quad-core with 12GB is $3,000. (Fwiw, I will be running two 23" Apple HD Cinema Displays (circa 2008, DVI). I have already figured out that I can connect the two monitors to the Mac Mini and still have a free Thunderbolt connector for the audio interface.)

I am aware that the RAM on a Mac Mini is soldered and therefore not able to be upgraded after purchase. Having already produced a few albums, I am aware that for music production, RAM is key.

Another issue is the hard drive. How would you compare the Mac Mini 1TB Fusion Drive with the Mac Pro"s 256GB PCIe-based Flash Storage? Would I have to get an additional hard drive for the Mac Pro on top of the 256GB PCIe-based Flash Storage? I do have an existing external Glyph HD from circa 2011 I could use. Would using that external HD with the Mac Pro slow things down terribly?

For my current needs in the next year, say, to make this album, is it even worth it to consider going for the Mac Pro? This is a hobbyist situation and not a full-time job. I"m not going to have huge track counts or be playing loads of virtual instruments. I"ll be connecting a UAD Apollo Twin audio interface and possibly installing Omnisphere for use in my productions. I"ll be recording with a maximum of 2 microphones, probably one only mic at a time. The only other plugin I have is the SSL G-Master Buss Compressor. I don"t see myself going crazy with plugins.

По мнению большинства аналитиков 2017 год для Apple будет богат на инновации. Больших перемен от «яблочного» гиганта в этом году ждут, что называется, по всем фронтам. iPad с поддержкой Smart KeyBoard и Apple Pencil, пропуск iPhone 7S и выпуск сразу «восьмерки» в новом дизайне, безрамные Macbook… предположения аналитиков интригуют и вдохновляют.

Вот только, к сожалению, предположения строятся главным образом относительно линеек Apple, обновляемых ежегодно, а вот о том же самом Mac Mini — компьютере «яблочного» гиганта, последний апдейт которого случился в далеком 2014 году, информации крайне мало. Что расстраивает — ведь это самый доступный и бюджетный Apple-компьютер, и потому в условиях кризиса в нашей стране ожидают новый Mac в мини-версии многие.

Впрочем, если сильно постараться кое-какую информацию собрать можно, что мы и сделали в этой статье.

Как было сказано выше, сегодня Apple Mac Mini 2014 — самый «свежий» апдейт линейки бюджетных «маков».

В самой доступной комплектации девайс продается за 40 000 рублей, при этом пользователь получает такие характеристики: процессор Intel Core i5 (тактовая — 1,4 ГГц), 4-гигабайтный объем оперативки и ПЗУ на 500 Гб. Графическое ядро — Intel HD Graphics 5000

«Мидл» версия обойдется в 55 тысяч рублей, в ней, в сравнении с самой бюджетной версией, объем оперативки и встроенной памяти увеличится вдвое — 8 Гб и 1 ТБ соответственно, процессор и графическое ядро, конечно, тоже будут круче — Intel Core i5 с тактовой 2,6 ГГц и Intel Iris Graphics

Ну и, наконец, отдав за девайс 75 000 рублей, пользователь получит Intel Core i5 с тактовой 2,8 ГГц, 8 Гб оперативки и встроенной накопитель типа Fusion Drive на 1 Тб, а также «г рафику» — Intel Iris Graphics

Отметим — за указанные суммы пользователь приобретает то, что мы привыкли называть системным блоком. Но только его вид в случае с эпл-компьютером отличается от классического системника. Mac Mini представляет собой компактную «коробочку размера 197х197х36 мм и весом в 1,9 кг. В итоге получается этакий мобильный компьютер — его можно взять с собой — принести/привезти куда надо без всяких хлопот и подключить к любому монитору и периферии.

Конечно, кто-то скажет, что 40 тысяч за системный блок — это не бюджетно. И если сравнивать со средней рыночной ценой с этим нельзя не согласиться. Но если проводить сравнение стоимости Mac мини с ценами на другие настольные ПК, то первый тут же захочется назвать недорогим. За любой другой Mac придется отдать не меньше 100 тысяч рублей.

Mac Mini: версия 2017

С учетом того, что в нашей стране сейчас кризис, а «яблоки» любит никто меньше не стал — будущее линейки Mac Mini, по крайней мере, в России весьма перспективно. Однако модель 2014 при всем уважении покупать уже мало кто хочет. Да, железо в Mac мини 2014 неплохое, но все-таки уже несколько устаревшее. С другой стороны, даже если Apple и представит Mac Mini 2017 с передовой начинкой, удастся ли удержать цену на бюджетном уровне? Вопрос сложный и, видимо, «яблочный» гигант так долго тянет с развитием сей линейки именно потому, что также не может подобрать для него достойный ответ.

Найдется ли ответ в этом году? Аналитики не очень-то позитивны на сей счет.

И хотя Фил Шиллер — старший старший вице-президент по маркетингу Apple в январе 2017 года заявил, что Mac мини по — прежнему важный продукт в линейке устройств, выпускаемых «яблочным» гигантом, большинство экспертов и даже кое-какие инсайдеры утверждают, что ждать нового мини в этом году точно не стоит.

Однако есть и меньшинство, которое верит в продолжение линейки и, более того, делает кое-какие прогнозы относительно будущих инноваций нового Mini, среди которых быстрые SSD-накопители, новый стандарт Bluetooth 5.0, порты нового типа USB-С, ну и в целом, конечно, более современная аппаратная платформа.

Довольно уважаемое издание Pike’s Universe уверяет, что изменятся размеры нового Mini, гаджет уже не будет таким компактным, в противном случае, он просто не сможет уместить в себе достойную для современных реалий начинку. Впрочем, предполагается, что ширина и длина останутся прежними, увеличится только высота, что не так критично. То же издание прогнозирует также, что «сердцем» Mac Mini 2017 станут процессоры Kaby Lake, представленные Intel в начале этого года.

Что касается дат выхода, тут прогнозы весьма туманны. Кое-кто делал ставку на весну 2017 года, но прогадал, следующая надежда — лето. Неизвестно, конечно, увидим ли мы новый Mac Mini, но то, что линейка компьютеров Apple обновится — совершенно точно, потому как совсем недавно в интервью Тим Кук обещал, что очень скоро компания представит миру «новые великолепные ПК». И разве Mac Mini не может оказаться одним из этих великолепных компьютеров? Что ж, ответа на сей вопрос ждать осталось совсем недолго.

At Apple"s 30 October New York event the company announced a revamped Mac mini - the first update to the pint-sized desktop Mac .

The Mac mini has always been popular because of its affordability and usefulness as a server, a media library for the living room or a first Mac for those who don"t want to pay a premium, and the new model looks set to continue that while also offering extra power to appeal to the professional market.

Mac mini release date

Design

The 2018 Mac mini is broadly the same design as the previous model, but with one major change: it now comes in Space Grey rather than Silver, a move Apple said is partly to appeal to the pro crowd.

The size is also exactly the same - dashing any hopes for a smaller Mac mini, which makes sense given the significantly improved specs of the new model. So once again this measures 3.6cm tall and 19.7cm wide. It weighs 1.3kg - a very slight jump from the previous 1.22kg.

The final design change - Apple has switched to using 100 percent recycled aluminium thanks to a new custom alloy, along with more recycled plastic than before, making this a little more eco-friendly.

Specs

As we"ve already mentioned, the new Mac mini boasts a serious performance bump from the 2014 models. Here are the two new main configurations:

£799/$799:

£1,099/$1,099:

• 3.0GHz 6-core Intel Core i5 with Turbo Boost up to 4.1GHz

Processor

First up, the Mac mini is now packing Intel"s 8th-gen Coffee Lake processors for some seriously amped up performance power - Apple boasted the new devices are five times faster than before.

The entry model will include a quad-core 3.6GHz Intel Core i3 processor, but you can upgrade all the way to a 6-core i7 with Turbo Boost speeds up to 4.6GHz.

The Mac mini also includes Apple"s new T2 security chip, which offers on-the-fly data encryption, along with HEVC video encoding that"s reportedly up to 30 times faster than before.

Graphics

Unsurprisingly, given the Mac mini"s diminutive form factor, there"s still no support for a discrete graphics card - there simply isn"t the space in the enclosure.

Instead you get integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630, which should be a big step up from the last-gen devices - but still won"t be able to compete against discrete cards. Luckily, the new Thunderbolt 3 ports mean you"ll always be able to connect the Mac mini to an external GPU if you seriously need graphical performance.

RAM

RAM has arguably gotten an even bigger spec boost than anything else. The entry model Mac mini packs 8GB of 2666MHz DDR4 RAM, which is upgradeable to a whopping 64GB - a huge jump from the previous cap of 16GB.

Storage

The other big internal change is the commitment to flash storage - every single model now packs an SSD, with Apple promising that the new drives are four times faster than before.

The entry-level model includes 128GB of SSD storage, but you can upgrade all the way to 2TB.

Ports

Ports have been tweaked too, and thankfully there are plenty of them. Every model of Mac mini comes with four Thunderbolt 3 ports along with two USB-A ports, backed up by HDMI 2.0 and an audio jack - along with a socket for the AC adapter.

Gigabit ethernet also comes as standard, but this is where there"s also room for an upgrade: you can jump to a 10Gb ethernet port if you need.

There"s one big thing missing though: the SD card slot has been removed, so any photographers or anyone else reliant on SD cards will need to grab a dongle.
